Application of Ethical Review
All applications for conducting research will go through ethical review. The application form as the research proposal can be downloaded as Word or PDF or found at the ATTACHMENT I of the Research Handbook.
The Research Ethics Committee (REC) conducts two types of review, namely, Expedited Review and Full Review. In Part C of the application form, two questions need to be answered:
- Will the study involve data collection from human subjects directly?
- Will secondary data, which BOTH i) contain personal identifiable information AND ii) are not publicly available, be used for this study?
If the answers to BOTH of these two questions are “no”, the REC will conduct the Expedited Review. Otherwise, the Full Review will be conducted instead.
For more details of the procedure as well as the outcome of application, please refer to chapter 3 of the Research Handbook.
