Follow Your Heart to Appreciate Life X Gratia Christian College [Coffee with Strangers]

Ms. Wong Ming Lok, the founder of “Follow Your Heart to Appreciate Life” invited the teaching staff and students of Gratia Christian College to participate in an experiential learning activity called “[Coffee with Strangers _ Real Conversations]” which was held in a coffee shop in Sham Shui Po District on 11th January 2024. Ms. Wong trained a group of enthusiastic volunteers in her organization to listen to the strangers’ stories and their sharing of the joys of life with a non-judgmental and attentive attitude, aiming to promote “City-wide Real Chatting Culture”. This was the first time for the organization, with a group of volunteers led by Ms. Wong, to collaborate with a tertiary institution in organizing the activity, hoping to offer students with an experiential learning opportunity to experience the joy of real conversations.

The students and teaching staff of the Higher Diploma in Social Work programme and Higher Diploma in Psychology and Counselling programme participating in the activity enjoyed drinking coffee while reconnecting with the spiritual connection between people and receiving the service of being listened by amateur “chatters.” As expressed by the students that this experience broadened their horizons, they hoped there would be more opportunities for them to participate in similar activities in the future and accumulate diverse learning experience.
